Who are we?
All of our course presenters are experienced Paramedics. Each 3-hour Kids FIRST Aid programme, identifies 10 common emergency situations involving children and provides the most relevant and up-to-date First Aid responses. Including: poison, fits and fevers, CPR, asthma & allergic reactions and burns.
KFA Mission: Help save kids lives ~ by enabling parents/carers to implement basic first aid actions when faced with an emergency situation involving a child, prior to emergency services arriving at the scene.
KFA Purpose: KFA will provide basic, relevant and up-to-date first aid information via a short format session, to all parents and carers of children 0-16yrs, within their home, school, preschool or club (we come to you!).
Kids FIRST Aid P/L was set up by two sisters, Jenny Douneen and Katie Fisher. Katie is an active Paramedic with 14 years experience and constantly involved in medical emergency situations involving kids. She is also a Registered Nurse and Breastfeeding counsellor
Jenny has a media and marketing background, but is also heavily involved in a community based childcare facility in Sydney. Jenny has been working full-time as Kids FIRST Aid director since 2008.
Between them they have 6 children and they were concerned that First Aid information regarding children’s emergency procedures is not easily obtained or available in a one-off, easy to manage session. But more importantly, they believed that this information should be presented by front-line emergency services professionals – people who are in the field, treating kids in emergency situations.
Hence Kids FIRST Aid was born!
